The Xie Lab is committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity in STEM fields, and we are actively seeking and welcoming applications from underrepresented groups.
Postdoctoral candidates: A Ph.D. degree in experimental condensed matter physics is required. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas: cryogenics, low-noise electronic transport, microwave techniques, and instrumentation. Interested candidates should send their CV to yx71 [at] rice.edu and include any possible fellowship opportunities. Opportunities at Rice include various named Fellowships at Smiley-Curl Institute, Rice Advanced Materials Institute, and Rice Academy of Fellows.
Graduate students: Prior experience in relevant fields is a plus but not required. Interested students should apply to the Rice Physics and Astronomy or Applied Physics Graduate Program. For 2025, we plan to recruit 0-1 graduate students.
Undergraduate students: We always welcome Rice undergraduate students to join our group. No prior experience is required. A commitment of at least 10 hours a week is preferred.
Visiting students: We always welcome undergraduate students from other institutions to join our group for an internship. Priority will be given to students with strong hands-on skills and serious time commitment (>5 months). For 2025, we plan to accept 1-2 self-funded student interns from outside of Rice.
